You can't really go wrong with good old earthy tones, classic beige's and pretty pinks! Always timeless, always easy to wear whoever you are and whatever the trend! I say take a little break from the colour-blocking mania and mismatched prints!

Another plus point worth mentioning I guess.....at least there is no battle trying to figure out what colour wash to stick these clothes in..........

I got it right at last.....

Here are some cupcakes I made on Sunday. I had a bit of a disaster with a silicone piping bag previously.....which subsequently ended up in the bin. Since, I have bought some bog standard plastic ones, you cut the end off to fit whatever nozzles that you use. Much easier.

These are vanilla sponges with vanilla buttercream. Simple I know, but I didn't want to mess it up again.

My Cornwall

It was Pedley's birthday this weekend, he had a moustache party with another friend whose birthday it was also. I might post one or two pics when I find the time!

The day after, hangover abolished by PLENTY of carbs, me and Pedley went to Sams on the Beach for a meal. Which by the way was stunning...as usual. Especially so as I had got word from one of the waiters that we knew, that Danni Minogue would be coming in for a meal and would sat on the next table to us! Imagine my excitement! (having never seen a real-life celeb before living in deepest darkest Cornwall)

It appeared that she was late and the restaurant had to give her a call only to find out that they were not booked in that night at all! Sams had got it all terribly wrong and I was rather gutted!! Nevermind....

Me and Ped had lovely food and lovely bubbly followed by lovely desert, the homemade waffles were to die for!

(We had picked at this a bit before I took a photo so it doesn't look quite as perfect as it did!)

Anyways...my dress was a serious bargain, from Debenhams. It cost me £22.50 down from £75 and I HAD TO HAVE IT :) I wore it with my Lancaster watch and (doing my bit for charity) my Fashion Targets Breast Cancer wristband, read about their wonderful work here. :)

I hope everyone has had a crackin' Easter (o dear) and that you are having wonderful weather, relish the time off, back to work Tuesday for a 3 day week! (Thank you Kate and Wills!!) Woop Woop!

Tutti-Frutti

For anyone who has taken note of the head turning fruit trend recently (Stella McCartney, Prada) These lovelies certainly won't disappoint! (well they won't if you have a nice wallet full of monies or a seriously slack bank manager!)

Tutti-Frutti

These tasty looking lovlies are by the one and only Charlotte Olympia!

"Bananas Is My Business" Heels - £970
"Tutti-Frutti Flats" Pumps - £710
"The Baker Bag" The zip pull is a lil' strawberry! - £388

As much as I love these items, I'm not entirely sure the "fruit trend" will be around long enough for me to justify such a huge-mongous expense! These would have to be worn long into winter with big thick cable knits to surely make a dent in the cost-per-wear! (I'm positive that would NOT be a good look and I'm not about to try my hand at trend-setting!)

Maybe I can make do with the Topshop banana leggings...? mmm. Rio anyone? x

Saturday Stockings

Saturday DAY I spent mostly in the kitchen with my manstuff and motherbear cooking up a storm. Pedley (my boyfriend - I refuse to call him by his first name....I'm not even sure many people know it!) has a project for a little company called Halzephron Herb Farm. They needed some promotional shots of the products being used...blah blah, so me and mother were being all "creative directory...." and Ped took the lovely photos!

Saturday NIGHT I spent mostly getting merry, although I had planned to wear what I wore below, the cold got the better of me and I stuck some jeans on at the last minute. Let down.

So I'm going to get me "GLEE" on now. Don't judge.

Happy summer people x

Sweet

I absolutely freaking LOVE Zara. They seem to publish a new lookbook every 5 mins or something, or is it just me? They have BOLDLY gone ('scuse the pun) where the catwalks have gone before!

However, I'm not complaining. Summer is upon us and THIS puts a smile on my face.

Colour-blocking, chunky stripes and big bold prints. Catwalk looks to suit a modest budget :)

I just chose my favorite pieces, if you aren't too keen on big, bold brights (i'm certainly not always a fan!) Zara has something for everyone, including khaki jackets and stylish off white pieces. Mix and match or go full on!

I love it. Cheered me up after a long day at work. Oh Zara *sighs*

Good Times

I am LOVING this sunshine! Could not have asked for a more perfect day for the planned photoshoot I was helping out on today. My boyfriend Adam is a photographer and is building up his portfolio with various shoots and styles alongside paid work. See his Tumblr blog here

The shoot today was in Penzance, waaaay down at the end of the world (well Cornwall). We were photographing Greta, 21, from Lithuania. (Most beautiful European features!) AND it was her birthday! The location was the Hotel Penzance where she works, we managed to nab a really nice room for the shoot in return for some photos of cream tea for the hotels website. (I, of course, subsequently ate the cream tea)

It was a lingerie shoot with a high fashion twist. (not a "lets get anybody who will to prance about in their undies" shoot) Hence the grand room and big windows. You will find the photos of this on Adams blog when he's had a bit of a play with them!

Enough talk. Here are some photos of the day :) Me doing my wannabe makeup artist gig and some of what I was wearing. Also there is one of the Mr-Man and the Lovely Greta :) Enjoy!

GOODNIGHT FASHION WARRIORS x

High Street Hotness!

Bonjour! I was going through my e-mails today and came across one from Look Magazine (whom i subscribe to) They have a new collection of High Street Hottest - their pick of the best new item on the high street. There were about 52 items in the collection ranging from Mango to Next. Here are my faves!

Look - Highstreet Hottest

I chose these items because they are all very wearable and actually a bit different from my usual style! If funds would allow me, I would snap up that skirt in a flash! Very ballerina :)
The Stripy shirt from Next would look wicked with a fair of flared jeans and some wedges.
The Karen Millen dress with bare legs for a night out (Tan not included!)

I'm back to work tomorrow after having a couple of days off, I went out and partied with some friends, (I'm not sure about pictures!) and ate tapas! nom nom! So I'm pretty tired! Best get off to bed I suppose before I start hunting for more bargains on the net!

G'Night! x x x

Super Sickly Sunday

Today....I've been baking and roping in my boyfriend to take photos! Recipe and photos below! :)

These are a new craze seemingly sweeping the nation. (I've seen them in Starbucks)

Cake pops!

They are REALLY easy to make, I'll show you the recipe that I used below but you can use any sponge mix you wish.

You will need:

  • 115g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids)
  • 85g unsalted butter (at room temp)
  • 175g soft light brown sugar
  • 2 large free range eggs (separated)
  • 185g plain flour (sieved)
  • 3/4 tsp Bicarb
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 250ml milk (at room temp)
  • 1 tsp good quality vanilla extract
  • 1 Tub Betty Crocker Chocolate frosting
  • Enough white/milk/dark choc (your choice) to coat the cake pops
  • bamboo skewers (in half sharp edges removed!)
  • Pretty sprinkles and decorations, go crazy!

OK. So first of all melt the 115g dark chocolate either in the microwave (dont burn it because it will take MINGING) or in a bain marie then set aside to cool a little. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl, till pale and smooth, this should take a few mins with an electric hand mixer/whisk and its MUCH easier! Whisk the egg yolks with clean whisks for a few mins and add to the creamed mixture, beat for a bit. Add the melted chocolate and beat again.

Next add the bicarb, baking powder and salt to the flour and sieve a third into the chocolate mixture, beat in. Add the vanilla extract to the 250mls of milk and add a third of this to to chocolate mixture and beat. Continue to do this until you have added all the flour and milk to the chocolate mixture.

Whisk the egg whites in a clean bowl with clean hand whisk paddles until stiff peaks start to form. (don't over-whisk) Tip the bowl over your head if you dare!!

Carefully fold the whisked egg white into the chocolate mixture with a metal spoon. Do not beat because you will knock all the air out the mixture.

YAY! now its all combined you can either turn these into cupcakes or you can shove the mixture into any baking tins you may have, I used 2 victoria sponge tins. (its best to use 2 or more tins because you want the mixture to cook right through) Make sure you grease the tins though!

Place the tins on the top shelf of a pre-heated oven at 160 degrees c (fan oven) for about 20-30 mins, or until when pressed, the top is relatively firm to touch and there is no gooey mixture when u pull a skewer out the middle. You can wash up while you wait if you're obsessive compulsive like me!

Looking good. Now take the tins out and turn out the cakes onto a wire cooling rack and leave for a bit before breaking them up. Once cooled start to mush the cakes up in a large bowl and also get your different chocolate bits into bowls ready to melt.

I used white chocolate and a mixture of left over dark and milk chocolate. (all Green & Blacks)

To the now really broken up chocolate cake add about 1/2 tub Betty Crocker choc frosting.....time to get your hands dirty! Get in there and mush it up!

You should now have a mixture gooey enough to roll into balls, golf ball sized like this.

Make as many or few as you like and place on a large plate or tray. Take your clean, halved bamboo skewers and dip the ends into the one of the (now melted) chocolates, stick in into the ball, this acts as a glue to hold the stick in place, you will need to allow this too cool and harden before you begin dipping the balls into the chocolates.

Once cooled you can now begin the fun part! Dip the cake balls in the chocolate but be careful not to dislodge the stick. I found it easier to use a small spoon to move the chocolate over the cake to make it even, place on a tray or plate and add your decorations! When you've dipped and decorated place the tray of yummies in the fridge to cool. (you will probably need to removed them with a pallet knife afterwards, mine stuck hard!)

ENJOY!

I've included some pics of me and my outfit today (we went to pizza hut so I had to haul myself out of my slouchies!) My cake pops make an appearance and so did my GORGEOUS kitten bits, Oliver :)

Best of "New In"

Topshop!

These are some (must stress the some here) of my fave pieces, fresh from the wondrous Toppers looms!

The shorts especially, they are painfully pretty, bright colours, scalloping, I would wear them (in warmer weather) with a plain vest top lots of jewelery and some wedges.

Next on my wishlist is THAT BAG. I'm a bit slow it appears and I still haven't picked myself up a nice fringed bag, this is the one, its leather, its laser cut and only £65! BOOM!

I chose these bangles because they are simple, they would go with anything and I like simple!

Colour-pop jeans, nuff said. These are cropped so you can show off your new boat shoes!

LBD. One can never own too many. This one is asymmetric and fits in all the right places, dress up with shoe boots and a statement blazer or dress down with flat boots and a belted cardigan.
Finally the quilted sleeveless jacket. I just really like this, it reminds me of chilly walks and equestrian styling. Perfect transitional piece while it still IS a bit....chilly.

Hope I have put my frazzled late night brain to good use here and that this actually make sense!

Far Out!

I <3 the 70's

Shirt: Topshop
Satchel: Cambridge Satchel
Belt: Therapy @ House of Fraser
Jeans: Paige Denim (big loves!!!)
Wedges: H&M

Ok, so I tried out Polyvore today. Its actually REALLY easy to use! They have a whole host of items that you can pick from to create your 'set' and you can use the 'clipper' to use images from the web that you come across too! Its quite fun and the possibilities are endless!

I created this simple 70's look first, just to try it out (can't you tell?......Some of the sets that other users create are A-MA-ZING) So here you are!

I like blogging :) x
